Mehmet Gürü Avcu (TR)

In 2017, he graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio and TV and Cinema. He recorded the form of life in the four main elements, social, class and economic-ecological problems, animals, human and natural rights, documentary cinema and documentary photographs. Artistic studies (documentaries and photographs) were exhibited and awarded in many film festivals and art galleries.

In June 2024, he received an admission from Linz Art University to his master’s degree. He moved to Vienna in January 2025 and started his education in Linz.
The script works of the Dicle River documentary, which will draw attention to the problem of ‘over the border’, are continuing.

Anthropocene is a short documentary film. In this documentary film, the paintings drawn by the painter Hasan are processed with the water crisis. Endangered creatures are the main subject of this documentary film. With the construction of the Ilisu Dam, Hasankeyf and 270 villages, which have a history of 12,000 years, were flooded. In this film, it is emphasized that the species living around the Tigris River was built with the dam and the memory of the dam.
