Scrape sounds

Matilde Baldassari (IT), Łukasz Romero (CO), Topi Piirainen (FI)

We are Topi Piirainen (aka Udasi), Matilde Baldassari and Łukasz Romero, a trio of students from the Unniversity of Arts Linz.

The three of us are performers focusing on our own area of interest and artistic practice: respectively, body performance, sound design and composition. Exploring the intertwinement of these practices, we aim at creating installations treating the themes of reciprocal artistic reverberation and mutual cancellation.

Scrape Sounds is a sound installation constituted by a loop of 1/4 inch sound tape sustained by found objects. The tape, in a symbiotic relationship with the objects’ bodies, links them together into a playful composition. Concurrently, the tape is able to record and produce sound only due to the tension built up between the objects’ bodies.
