SoundsLike Joy

Remo (IT)

My name is Remo, I use he/him/they pronouns and I am a Trans* artist. I love creating interactive art and I am interested in the connections between art, artist and interactor. I grew up in a very creative and crafty household and attended an art high school in Bozen, Italy. In those years I also did my internship with a potter. This March the first version of my work “SoundsLike” was exhibited at the University of Arts Linz’s open day.

The happy memory archive

SoundsLike Joy explores the role technology plays in preserving memory, and how it can be a site of resistance in tough times. The project is comprised of a keyboard, on top of each button is a miniature figurine, each one represents a sound, which plays once the button is pressed. The artist’s mental health makes it difficult to remember joy, so he uses technology to explore how we archive Joy. This interactive sound installation inspires others to think about the sounds of their memories.
