Als Plattform für Architektur und Baukultur engagiert sich das afo architekturforum oberösterreich für interdisziplinäre Diskurse über urbane und ländliche Entwicklungen und die damit verbundenen Veränderungen für Gesellschaft und Individuum. Die Vernetzung von Architekt*innen, Planer*innen und Bauherr*innen mit Akteur*innen aus Handwerk, Wirtschaft, Wissenschaft, Kunst, Kultur und Politik ist ein wichtiges Ziel. In Ausstellungen, Diskussionen, Vorträgen, Publikationen und Besichtigungen steht die Vermittlung raumspezifischer Themen in die breite Öffentlichkeit im Mittelpunkt. Das afo versteht Architektur als gesamtgesellschaftlichen und kulturellen Prozess, bei dem lebendige, kritische Reflexion und die Beteiligung möglichst vieler gefragt sind.

As a platform for architecture and building culture, the afo architekturforum oberösterreich is committed to interdisciplinary discourse on urban and rural developments and the associated changes for society and the individual. The networking of architects, planners, and builders with actors from trades, business, science, art, culture, and politics is an important goal. In exhibitions, discussions, lectures, publications, and tours, the focus is on communicating space-specific topics to the general public. The afo understands architecture as an overall social and cultural process that requires lively, critical reflection and the participation of as many people as possible.

Mathias Haunschmidt, born, 1991, works in different contexts and with different materials, from the computer to the hands, mostly with a cultural studies eye.

Installation, dimensions: Hexagon with approx. 1.5 m
length each side, total height approx. 3 m

Mittels einfach verfügbarer Materialien, Karton und Holz, wurde eine Kuppel gebaut, die begehbar ist. Die Form ist ästhetisch an Sakralbauten angelehnt. Wir fürchten in der Moderne keine göttlichen Wesen und bauen ihnen keine Tempel mehr, aber unsere Ängste fürchten wir noch. Ihnen ist diese Installation gewidmet, die nach der Ausstellung zerstört wird.

Using easily available materials, cardboard and wood, a dome was built that can be walked on. The form is aesthetically based on sacred buildings. In the modern age, we no longer fear divine beings and build temples to them, but
we still dread our fears. This installation, which will be destroyed after the exhibition, is dedicated to those fears.
