Die Stadtwerkstatt ist seit 1979 Kunst, Clubkultur und autonome Struktur. Sie ist von Anfang an untrennbar mit einem Selbstverständnis von Aktivismus, Subkultur und einer Praxis von immer wieder neu zu definierenden Kunstkontexten verbunden. Die STWST hat viele wegweisende Medien- und Kunstprojekte umgesetzt und war außerdem Impulsgeberin für zahlreiche Künstler:innen in- und außerhalb der Stadt. Heute arbeitet die STWST im Bereich neuer Kunstkontexte, betreibt die Zeitung „Versorgerin“, den Musikclub und das Café Strom. Immer noch im Haus der STWST arbeiten die Netzkulturinitiative servus.at und Radio FRO, die aus dem Umfeld der STWST entstanden sind. Die STWST engagiert sich in Theorie und Praxis und versteht sich als Ort des Diskurses.
The Stadtwerkstatt has denoted art, club culture, and an autonomous structure since 1979. From the very beginning, it has been inextricably linked to an identity of activism, subculture, and a practice of constantly redefining art contexts. The STWST has implemented many significant media and art projects and has also been an instigating initiative for numerous artists inside and outside the city. Today, STWST works in the fields of new art contexts, and runs the Music Club, the Cafe Strom, and the newspaper ”die Versorgerin”. The net culture initiatives servus.at and Radio FRO, which emerged from the STWST environment, still work in the STWST building. The STWST operates in theory and practice and sees itself as a place of discourse.

Daniela Gutmann moves mainly in the areas of performance, experimental film, installation, and sound. Her approach is to open up poetic spaces of sensuality and atmosphere, that generate a kind of friction.

Wer die Kamera hält und wer gefilmt wird, ist unklar und schnell erkennt man, dass es auch egal ist. Es geht nicht um einen Blick, es geht um ein gemeinsames Erleben und Erkunden. Das, was an einer Berührung aufregend ist, nämlich nicht die Geste an sich, sondern das Gefühl von Haut und Reibung, wird hier filmisch festgehalten. (Patrick Holzapfel)
The three protagonists throw themselves into each other with the Super 8 camera. Who is holding the camera and who is being filmed is unclear, and you quickly realize that it doesn‘t matter. It‘s not about a gaze, it‘s about a shared experience and exploration. What is exciting about a touch, namely not the gesture itself but the feeling of skin and friction, is captured here on film. Ildiko Mayr is a visual artist, who mostly works with animated film. Her movies explore fantastic, as well as realistic stories, and have already been shown internationally.

„dogrunfast“ ist ein kurzer Stop-Motion-Animatonsfilm, in dem verschiedenste Materialien zum Einsatz kommen. In diesem Film ist nichts so wie es scheint; Objekte verändern und transformieren sich ständig und letztendlich bleibt nur die Stahlstadt erhalten.
’dogrunfast’ is a stop-motion animated short film made out of a multitude of materials. In this film, things are not what they seem; they constantly change and transform and, in the end, all that remains is the city of steel.

Im Projekt werden textile Objekte bzw. Kleidungsstücke kollaborativ in einer gemeinschaftlichen Praxis direkt auf dem menschlichem Körper kreirt. HUMAN BRAIDED TEXTILES ist eine kollaborative Intervention, eine Mitmach-Performance im öffentlichen Raum, in der textile Strukturen und Artefakte entstehen und Menschen unterschiedlichen Backgrounds zusammengeführt und zu Social Designers macht.
The project creates textile objects or garments that are created collaboratively in a community practice directly on the human body. HUMAN BRAIDED TEXTILES is a collaborative intervention, a participatory performance in public space in which textile structures and artefacts are created, bringing together people from different backgrounds and turning them into social designers.
