Listening Underground
This year’s edition of Sound Campus, proposes a music program inspired in intersectional spaces created by sound. Taking the notion of “underground” as a shared continuum, it invites artists and audience to a collective listening experience through the notion of immersion.
‘Sound Campus – Listening Underground’, explores the movement beneath the surface. It considers the ongoing, divergent processes, which are felt but not always seen. To submerge opens up new modes of attention and multi-sensory listening that change our relation with the surrounding.
The conditions for immersion, allow space for vulnerability, equal self-expression and free-form.
Regarding spacetime as a stream of gradual transitions, provides an image where the individual parts are not dis-articulated from each other, but coexist in mutual affection. A new awareness of space as a common place can emerge, when we diffuse the outlines of the landscape.
Sound Campus is a sound festival within Ars Electronica and Kunstuniversität Linz. Since 2020, it has been a format hosted by the Kunstuniversität Linz, providing an opportunity for students and performers to exchange and share their work with a wider audience. With a focus on its community, the program is committed to support diverse voices in experimental and electronic music.
