A Bridge of Clouds

Linking distant landscapes through everyday atmosphere
Elea van Es (NL/PH)
This two-channel video installation explores the relationship between place, identity, and weather from a biracial perspective. Projected onto the ceiling, the work invites viewers to lie down and observe two skies at once: one above a student house in the Netherlands, the other above a family home in the Philippines. Filmed from beneath the buildings, the videos mirror each other in quiet rhythms and contrasts, linking two distant landscapes through everyday atmosphere. The weather becomes a subtle bridge between the two places, reflecting both difference and connection within a split sense of home.
I am Elea van Es, a Moving Image artist whose practice unfolds at the intersection of video/visual poetry, photography, and installation, where I explore themes of displacement, friendship, and stillness.
Currently, delving deeper into camera-less image-making methods, and Expanded Cinema as a way to work more with my hands and interact with the frame.
