Malassezia

by
Luzia Stempfer

“Malassezia” is music for introverts, who would have preferred to stay at home with the houseplants. The live performance uses a setup consisting of small, self-soldered synthesizers and a vintage, out-of-tune zither, instead of new, expensive equipment. The noises drone through ears and bodies, letting the surrounding floral installation vibrate.

Born 1996 / grew up in Roßbach / Innviertel / lives and works in Linz / has been studying experimental design with Anna Jermolaewa since 2019.

Influenced by subcultures such as the metal, & punk scene as well as her rural origins, the artist pursues an interdisciplinary approach involving media such as noise, flowers, photography, installation, video, light & witchcraft. Themes range from our relationship to nature, queer feminism, classism & physical experiences to sensory overload.
