“Somniloquy (Sleep Talking)” is Park’s ongoing PhD research on human and machine dreaming, exploring the unconscious aspects like dreams, unlike traditional AI research that focuses on consciousness. He aims to recreate his dreams using AI text and image recognition algorithms. Park has recorded 100 of his dreams and collected around 10,000 cell phone photos over the years. He conducts studies to match his past visual experiences with content from his dreams.
HyungJun Park lives and works in Berlin. His works are based on art and science. He collaborated with the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology in Düsseldorf, Germany and was selected for the scholarship residency called Arts-Science-Economy in Schöppingen, Germany. His work was exhibited and collected at the Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe, Germany (ZKM). His interests include visual cognition, computer technology, the philosophical self and the artistic body.
