Technobiocommunication protocols

by
Olli-Pekka Lankinen, Boris Shershenkov

Pushing to the extreme the latest tendencies in the musical industry, performers use neo-cybernetic principles to design their own electro-acoustic, analog and (post)digital sound devices capable of making musical decisions. Forming the techno-biological ensemble, human and non-human performers can communicate with each other using different signal systems such as visual signs, gestures, CVs and digital protocols to explore new forms of behavior-driven interaction in a common acoustic field.

Obi Blanche (Olli-Pekka Lankinen) is a Finnish experimental guitarist, producer, and instrument builder. He has chosen guitar as his main sound source because of its physicality, energy, and direct connection to the body. He’s interested in creating new sounds by modifying the instrument and altering the signal chain starting from the guitar.

He graduated from the Music Technology Diploma program from the Institute of Orimattila, Finland in 2004 and has been involved in leftfield music productions since. Eclectic performances from IRCAM Paris to Boiler Room Berlin he’s been known to push the envelope of guitar as a medium.
