Have you ever dreamt of being a bat?

“What is it like (to be)?” is an immersive experience that delves into the individual’s relationship with their environment and senses using echolocation. The artwork invites the viewer to take on a new role of a creature locating itself by emitting sound, while others observe the newly-made hybrid organism and its performance. Consequently, participants are prompted to question their understanding of what is familiar and unfamiliar in human existence.

Danielius Šermukšnis (Vilnius, Lithuania) works in the field of interactive and media art, with a current focus on contemporary surveillance and tracking.
