. DAS PISST UNS AN! – Livia Schmitsberger & Moritz Böttjer
Dirty walls, bad smells, filthy toilet seats, locked doors or 50 cents entry – DAS PISST UNS AN! Public urination can lead to fines, yet the urge to pee isn’t exactly optional. The number of clean and accessible public toilets in Linz is extremely limited. We want to bring this issue into public discussion. The fountain in the courtyard of the Art University becomes a large public toilet installation. A hidden, intimate necessity is brought into public awareness. We demand toilets be taken seriously as part of urban infrastructure and call for inclusive, barrier-free design because DAS PISST UNS AN!

. What was once water became land.
(An embodied exploration of man-made landmass in the Venetian Lagoon.)
Master Thesis – Tomiris Dmitrievskikh
This master’s thesis explores the relationship between humans and nature in the context of the Anthropocene landscape. The site of the study is Venice and its lagoon. Through embodied research, fieldwork, and performative interventions, the project examines the concept of sacca – a term used to describe artificial land masses formed by the accumulation of various materials. Here, sacca is presented as an example which helps to reimagine constructed environments not as detached or passive elements, but as active spaces reflective of human needs and fears. The project unfolds as a layered, first-person narrative, a patchwork of field notes, reflections, historical references, and visual materials collected in Venice (Italy) and studied in more detail in Linz (Austria) from October 2023 to May 2025.

. Popular Prototyping as a Method for Artistic Research through Site-Specific Interventions: Focusing on the Choreography of Venice’s Low-Tech Landscape
Master Thesis – Lorenzo Iannantuoni
The publication explores Popular Prototyping as a method for Artistic Research, proposing a structured approach to analyzing and interacting with public spaces. Starting with the observation of low-tech tools and practices in a specific environment, it employs site-specific interventions to examine objects and activities in-depth, uncovering their essence, functionality, and social dynamics. The process of Narrative Re-working reinterprets and Re-designs collected tools and practices to create new narratives that provoke thought and enrich our understanding of public spaces.

. Collective and individual freedom in the context of self organized housing projects Bachelor Thesis – Bastian Lehner
The Willy*Fred housing project was, for me, the beginning of an intense engagement with communal living, political ideals, and societal contradictions. In this project, which eight years ago I initially entered with a youthful conception of self-determination and freedom, I not only became acquainted with the structures and dynamics of a housing project but also became increasingly politicized. My experiences in Willy*Fred led to a sharper awareness of societal issues, which at times resulted in conflicts with my previous environment. Over the years, however, it became clear to me that the housing project serves not only as a safer space but also as a place where people actively engage with societal issues and take on responsibility. This work reflects my experiences in Willy*Fred and examines some crucial questions. Through a theoretical exploration of the concept of freedom and a look at other housing projects, the work aims to provide a deeper insight into the topic and open the doors to a private, yet politically shaped living space.
