Seit Februar 2024 übersetzt Eleonora Hrybniak die Luftalarme in Odessa in großformatige, gehäkelte Decken. Sie sammelt die Alarmdaten und verflechtet sie zu einem fortlaufenden Textil-kalender des Krieges, dem die Dauer und Häufigkeit der akustischen Warnsignale farblich eingearbeitet sind. Luftalarm dokumentiert den Alltag unter Bedrohung – jede Masche: ein Kriegstag. Häkeln wird zu einer Art Archivierung des Krieges – und ist dabei ein stiller, beständiger Widerstand aus Wolle.
Since February 2024, Eleonora Hrybniak has been translating the air alarms in Odesa into largeformat crocheted blankets. She collects the alarm data and weaves it into a continuous textile calendar of the war, with the duration and frequency of the acoustic warning signals incorporated in colour. Luftalarm (Air Alarm) documents everyday life under threat – each stitch representing one day of war. Crocheting becomes a sort of archiving of the war – and is also a silent, ongoing act of resistance made of wool.
