Werkbeschreibung:
Klebeband wird von der Wand gerissen, gescannt, in überdimensionalem Format gedruckt und mit demselben an der Wand fixiert. Es entsteht ein Kreislauf, der Fragen nach Ursprung und Bedeutung aufwirft.
TAPE organisiert den Raum, vermisst und rastert ihn, schafft neue Räume, Richtungen und Leitstrukturen und lässt die Betrachtenden rätseln. Die Installation spielt mit Fragen nach Grenzziehung und Orientierung, Bau und Umbau, dem Temporären und Variablen, dem Entdecken von mikroskopisch Kleinem und Alltäglichem, sowie dem menschlichen Drang Komplexes im Simplen zu sehen.
// Tape is torn from the wall, scanned, printed in oversized format and fixed to the wall with the same. A cycle is created that raises questions about origin and meaning. TAPE organizes the space, measures and grids it, creates new spaces, directions and guiding structures and leaves the viewers guessing. The installation plays with questions of demarcation and orientation, construction and reconstruction, the temporary and the variable, the discovery of the microscopic and the everyday, and the human urge to see the complex in the simple.
Artist Statement:
In ihrer künstlerischen Arbeit bewegt sich Jana Ehls zwischen (experimenteller) Fotografie und Skulptur. Charakteristisch sind hierbei minimalistische, monochrome Installationen im Innen- und Außenraum, die von analogen Fotografien und gefundenen Objekten ausgehend architektonische und soziale Zustände hinterfragen.
Dr. Jana Ehls hat zunächst an der Universität Leipzig Zahnmedizin studiert und promoviert. Seit 2021 studiert sie in der Klasse Bildhauerei – transmedialer Raum (Gelitin) und hat im vergangenen Wintersemester an der Academy of Arts and Design in Israel studiert.
// In her artistic work Jana Ehls moves between (experimental) photography and sculpture. Characteristic are minimalist, monochrome installations in indoor and outdoor spaces, which, based on analog photographs and found objects, question architectural and social conditions. Dr. Jana Ehls first studied dentistry at the University of Leipzig and received her doctorate. Since 2021 she has been studying in the class Sculpture – transmedial space (Gelitin) and has studied at the Academy of Arts and Design in Israel during the past winter semester.
