A short Super 8mm film forms the beginning of a cinematic metamorphosis. The clip was projected in different processing steps each time and filmed with a different format/medium - so Super 8mm becomes first VHS, then MiniDv, finally HD video. So we film our way through the current history of the moving image. In the process, the clip keeps changing its character, its content, its "look", its quality. With each generation, information is lost and at the same time a whole new perspective is gained. The moving image also changes the size of shots and camera movements, or parts are repeated or skipped. The individual "work steps" are projected next to each other and thus the process, the change in materiality, the loss of objective quality and stylistic form, is made visible in the made visible in the juxtaposition.
