Sound of Kandinsky
by Joann Lee (KR)
Wassily Kandinsky was a synesthete who perceived sounds in colors and shapes. His 'Composition' series shows the shapes that in his eyes embodied certain sounds. Sound of Kandinsky reverses this process, taking the shapes of his paintings as starting points for compositions. The resulting new interpretations experiment with new ways of composing, assigning each instrument to an element of the paintings. On the multitouch table, visitors can rearrange Kandinsky's painting themselves and thus create a new composition.
